Hold my Hand Lord

Hold my hand Lord, through the trials of  life

A time when many look away

Lord let your presence stay.

Hold my hand Lord, when I fear for the future

When I wonder if things will work out

Forgive me for times that I doubt.

Hold my hand Lord, when people hope that I will fall

You are the lifter up of my head.

You will supply my daily bread.

Hold my hand Lord, Bless me with all I need.

Amaze those who look down on me

and take all the Glory!

Poem – Not a Bed of Roses

Not a Bed of Roses

I thought that life would be a bed of roses

Well at least for most of it

But find that there are:

• So many Twists
• So many Turns
• So many Burns.

I thought that I would have gone further than this

At my age there is still so much amiss

But find that there are:

• So many Delays
• Obstacles in the Way
• Unkept promises of what people say.

Well, hanging on by a thread, I’ll still keep positive

and hope that

I will find that there are:

• Brighter days ahead
• No more tears to shed
• Angels helping me instead.

Poem – Sweet Tooth

 

Sweet Tooth

 

 My Nickname at work used to be Swiss Roll

Chocolate Swiss Rolls on my desk instead of a fruit bowl.

I couldn’t help it  – Cakes, Chocolates, doughnuts with Coffee

Seemed to help me work more effectively.

Sweet food my guilty pleasure

For My Sweet Tooth – is there a cure? 🙂

Poem – Chocolates

Chocolates

Chocolates keep me happy

I could melt in them, so Yummy.

Chocolate is a lady’s best friend

Well, okay, second best to her boyfriend.

 

 

Instant Gratification

Numbing negative emotion.

My favourite are Truffles

While eating, I float in Bubbles.

 

 

With Chocolate, I don’t count one Calorie

Is one mini-bar a day unhealthy?

I hope your answer to that was “No”

Gratitude

It’s the 30^th of June, half way through the year

I’m grateful to God that I’m still here.

Many of us started 2010 together

Sadly, some have gone to meet their maker.

 

I’m grateful for my family

Who mean the world to me.

I’m grateful for the favour God has shown

and for friends who never make me feel alone.

 

Hoping for much Happiness the next half of the year

the last few ones have been hard to bear

… and for all who are going through a tough time

May Angels watch over them and keep them fine.

Wait for Love…

You’ve done so much for me

and since youth made me happy.

I want you to enjoy this time of your life

You’ve worked so hard.

So much I want to do for you

buy you a car that’s brand new.

Make sure your comfy, in good health

and smiling everyday.

*

Things haven’t worked out to plan

but life must be kind to a wonderful man.

Where there’s a will there’s a way

Its just a matter of time.

*

You have always been so kind and generous to others

Even to those trained under you “baby lawyers”.

Its only Karma, you reap what you sow

and I promise to make you glow with pride.

*

We talk on the phone, you laugh and say you are 70

and you’re content to go when we’re settled and happy.

But I want you to experience a new chapter of life

You’re the only one I can truly call “Dad”.

Poem – One day at a time…

A day at a time…

One day at a time, day after day

One step in front of the other, come what may.

Paycheck after paycheck, for bill after bill

same old, same old – haven’t saved enough still.

*

Another decade gone, how time flies by

“Mirror, mirror” – can’t look myself in the eye

month after month, year after year

what have I accomplished? I ask in fear.

*

Sometimes promotion, one step forward

then challenges, two steps backward.

Through it all I’m grateful – it could have been worse

Some of those challenges turned into a good cause.

*

We eat, we sleep – some can barely stand on their feet

Some with good backgrounds, but left homeless on the street.

We wake up each day, while some sadly pass away.

One day at a time. I’ll make the most of each day.

Poem – Happy Mondays

 

Mondays!!

 

Oh, here we go it’s Monday!

Its cold, don’t wanna get out of bed.

A new week, a new day

can’t afford to, must earn some daily bread.

 

 

So  I Jump in the Shower

Get ready quickly.

All in the space of an hour

My posh carriage awaits me.

 

 

I drive like the Fast and the Furious

So I can get a parking space.

Security think I’m Notorious

as I pass them at such fast pace.

 

 

Finally, I arrive and have a coffee

Colleagues smile at me, the day has begun.

I open emails, what “goodies” await me?

A busy day, but I’ll certainly have fun.

Poem – Just for one day

Just for one day, have some Retail Therapy
and Pamper myself nicely.

Not swear at a crazy driver
Who makes a turn and trafficates after.

Not have to count calories in chocolate
It ain’t a crime if I put on some weight!

For one day, not worry about anything
Just accept what the day will bring.

Park my car anywhere
Without coming back to find a parking ticket there.

Just for one day, get to meet my Hero
Who’ll share with me secrets of life I should know.

Have it all – Happiness, peace of mind and a loved one
Then freeze time, so it’s never undone.

Poem – Beauty for Ashes

 

God has sent unto them that mourn in Zion, Beauty for Ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be Glorified. (Isa 61:3)

 Poem  – Beauty for Ahses

She finally managed to get up from the ground

Where for years and years she had been bound.

Meant to reign in life, But for heartless Africans, so mean

Shame, reproach and ridicule are how they wanted her seen.

 *   *   *

But she gathered strength in Spirit to scream “no more!!”

Then clearly she see’s a bright open door

As long as no one can stop the Sun from shining.

No one can stop a Man’s Glory rising.
